Best Password Manager App??

Anybody know why I can't get my data to show up in B-Folders after importing a .csv file? I'm migrating from PalmOS (Tapwave Zodiac) and have been using Cryptinfo, which doesn't export .csv, so I used the trial version of SplashID (which I don't want to buy because of all the bad reviews) to import my database and export it as a .csv. Then I downloaded B-Folders to my desktop (I use Win XP) and tried to import the file. It says it imported successfully, but no data is visible. I imagine I'm just doing something stupid, but I can't find a real instruction manual anywhere.

I did try exporting from B-Folders to see what data format it wanted, then plugged a couple of my entries into the file and tried to re-import. That didn't work either.

Keepass looks really good but I'm worried about having to use Dropbox and send my data off to a server somewhere...I know it's encrypted, but can't you just send it to the desktop?

(edited to add: contacted B-Folders developer, they're responsive and helpful. Hopefully I can get this sorted!)

OK, SpashID is currently beta testing 5.3. I'm a original Palm user (would you believe Handspring) and our Palms were getting old so I jumped on the Droid wagon (thanks to Palm for delaying Pre) and got the early (4.6) version. It is cranky, mainly each time you reboot your PC the IP may change and it was a hassle to correct as you had to find the new IP. 5.3 is much better and while still requiring sync via wireless it provides you the name of the device to sync to. It now has active links for logins as well. I think it is getting close to public release and I have always been impressed with the security, creating passwords, encryption and auto locking. I currently have 245 passwords on it. I use it on my laptop and desktop and am running Windows 7. Price to me is not high for a App that works well, desktop price is not bad for the security it gives.

Okay, so I'm just catching up to what's been discussed on this thread. I too am looking to get a password keeper program on my Droid that can save/sync back to my Mac.

The one problem I see w/ KeePass and Dropbox is the lack of sync functionality (which is solved w/ sugarsync though now w/ space issues Dropbox is still preferred?). In the Dropbox forum, they state that this Rev 1 Android app is a basic foundation app that will be built upon, but who knows when it will behave like we all thought (hoped) it would?

That brings me to this B-folders program. Anybody else try it? Sounds like it would do everything most everybody wants (AES encrypt, sync to Macs and PCs, etc.). I'm wondering why this program doesn't get more love?

I'm playing with it now. Desktop sync to WinXP works wonderfully via wireless (can't sync by USB or BT AFAIK). Only downside is that I have to edit the IP address on the phone manually if it changes on the desktop. It backs up the encrypted database to the card (not automatically, unfortunately) and will export .csv if needed. CSV import never worked right for me (developer suggests custom Perl script would help, might as well ask me to flap arms and fly ;) ), but I can copy/paste data on the desktop and sync it over. Time I weeded out old entries anyway. Wouldn't mind a few more customized field types, but there is a "notes" format that will accept any text. I can't speak to the strength of the encryption, but I think I'll buy the full version after a few more days of using it.

Just adding my vote. LastPass is easily the best there is, for Android & Windows, and it's easily worth 12 bucks a year...

I've been researching password managers all day, and this forum is great. I tried LastPass, and their desktop option is good, but I'm not too impressed with the mobile support at the moment. For a monthly fee they have a lot of work to do. I couldn't get the bookletts to work for Opera mini, and their full website worked in the stock browser only (and it's super slow).

I am in the process of configuring KeePass/KeePassDroid with DropBox, for which I'm a new user as well. From what I can tell, I will probably pick KeePass, since I was disappointed with the mobile portion of LastPass.

Update: To integrate keepass with Firefox, I tried keeform, but that didn't work for some reason, so then I tried KeeFox and it's working ok, but it's not as good as LastPass plugin. Maybe LastPass is worth $12/year if they improve their mobile app to the same standard as their Desktop programs.

Well the 2 that seem to sync the best to Mac and PC is B-Folders and Splash ID. Splash ID synced first time with no configuration needed. Loved the interface hate the price.

B-Folders needed a little work to get it to sync with my Mac but got it working. Only question is can I use a host name for my Android? If so what is it? I got it syncing but left and when I got home latter my WiFi IP had changed and I couldn't sync, Splash ID handled that well.

I'm gonna see if B_Folders does more.

I've been using 1Password on my Mac and ipod Touch. Would love to see them port it to Andoid.

I'm with ya, but I asked them, out right, and they told me, out right, that they were a Mac and iPhone shop with no current plans for supporting the Android.

Sigh.

I have no way to export my content because I don't have the high-priced Mac version. I only have the iPhone version. I can back it up, but it's an opaque, binary blob. If you find some way of rescuing your key chain database content from 1Password, and shuttling it over to some new Android app, please let us all know.

After reading through all of these helpful messages and being a user of SplashID for Palm, WinMo, and BB, I went ahead and paid the $10. As it turns out, similar to a few other posters, I am simply unable to get version 5 to sync (WiFi sync only, no other option). After days of emails to SplashData, many of which were met with stock help responses that were intended for iPhone or didn't address my problem... I gave up.

So, I've switched to KeePass and Dropbox. Except for having to manually re-enter all of my items since KeePass didn't seem to have a matching import filter; the solution has worked out really well. The desktop and android programs are simple to use. Dropbox takes care of "syncing" without the need for port forwarding, firewall exclusions, WiFi LAN. A simple solution - thanks to those who suggested it.

I am on the fence with this topic also. I have to tryout a few different apps; but ultimately my main goal is to have auto-login. Since using lastpass on my desktop and laptop, I have been able to generate much stronger passwords and effortlessly login to any of my accounts with lastpass.

Roboform seems like the only other alternative that will suit what I want; although not sure how well it works. I have to try it out and see how things go. If not, I may have to bite the bullet and pay for lastpass -- $12/year and I don't have to worry about using 2-3 different apps to keep things synced and to login to a website.

I use RoboForm & GoodSync for my browser passwords and there's an app that uses my online data for my phone's browser.

I was using Passwords Plus for other info I wanted available. Passwords Plus does not work with Android.

I switched to KeePass Desktop and KeePass Android, using Dropbox to sync the files automatically. KeePass also had a plugin that converted my Passwords Plus csv export file.

All of my data is available on my desktop & phone and the setup took about 15 minutes, including the downloads.

YMMV :)
