Help permanent uppercase

hi love my desire

however last two days whenever i use phone virtual kb to type text or emails it always comes on as UPPER CASE and i have to tap to get back to lower case. previous to this it always started in lower case, i cant find any way to permanently set this to lower case

i've got thick buttons app installed but not active, but this was installed a while before this small problem manifested itself

any clues anyone please

cheers

ok i have recreated this on my desire, go to compose a message or something, and double tap the shift key, it will switch to lower case then back to upper, now start typing and normal service will be resumed.

The keyboard remembers if you have put "shift lock" on by double tapping the shift key

Hi - I have the same problem now where my keyboard is stuck on UPPERCASE from when I open it to write a message...when you say you sorted it by "fiddling around"....do you remember what you actually did?

Just to clarify - the problem manifests itself in Compact Qwerty and Phone Keypad. Text works as normal in Full Qwerty... automatically going to lower case after the first letter in a sentence.

The shift key is highlighted (with no line under) when I start typing, but the text all stays in uppercase throughout. So it seems that the shift key is getting stuck somehow???

I would really appreciate any help on this...as its a right pain in the ass having to remember to turn uppercase off every time I go to text.

Not able to work it out myself I came to this discussion and between the lines fond the answer - thank you.
So you're right sometimes you get a little line under the "shift" key - although it's not really a shift key but almost the same (it took me a while to figure!) Yes it's the vertical arrow on the left of the key board.
So, I, too fiddled with it to find what it does. My finding is that its default is: first letter entered is capitalised then KB returns to lower case for the rest of the text till you get a new paragraph (enter/return). For occasional capital letter just hit the "shift" once and the next letter will be upper case then the k board returns to lower.
But if you hit the arrow twice and fast you'll see it underlined and you'll be in upper case until you change it again - At least this is what happened for me.
Good luck with this and I'd hope the pdf manual would have explained it for us!
PS: Reviewing my prose, I did check my PC key board and also saw arrows on its shift key! Perhaps because there is only one on the htc it seemed different for me! ... and as I realise the post is from 2010 you most likely know about it for a while! oh well it may help some others:)
