Root Linpack Mflops and ROMs

So I downloaded Linpack for Android and have been clocking between 7 and 8 Mflops for the last couple of days. I've got a Droid, running UltimateDroid 10, clocked at 1.0GHz, but I'm not getting anywhere near the guys that are getting up to 25 or even 52 Mflops.

I'm not greedy and I realize these are high extremes, but how do I start approaching these speeds?

There are many tricks to kick up the benchmarks (enabling JIT is one of them) but you suffer when it comes to stability. I have given up on benchmarks. If my phone appears fast, stable, and smooth to me I am happy. Except for bragging rights, I find the benchmarks have little relevance to real daily use. These threads used to be full of benchmarks and they have lately become a rarity.

Can I enable JIT in my current ROM? I'm on 2.1 update 1, but I think it's only available in Froyo, which I believe is 2.2 and not out yet.

I figure there has to be some valid relationship between the benchmarks and speed...I'm always looking for an edge.

you can enable JIT on current roms but its incredibly unstable and will lead to lots of random reboots. I dont have a link to how to do it anymore but Im sure someone will

Agreed! My advice...just leave it alone Froyo is just around the corner and the JIT available with Froyo is much more refined (from what I understand).

Yeah, I rarely find that those benchmarks make any negligible difference in daily use. Maybe in some games or something but for your basic calls/browsing/text/apps it doesn't seem to.
