Hello I'm Unbias,

Currently I'm an AT&T subscriber in Hawaii. Very soon my contract will end which means UPGRADE, YAY! Now, I will be honest I do own an Iphone 3G. I'm aware that the new Iphone will be released or revield very soon. No I am not an applefan boy for those who may be thinking it. I love Iphone and it's features, but it's OS even to 4.0
I feel has come to be obselete when comparing with the new android devicesthat are currently being released.

Now that you know a little about me, let's get to the problem. I'm currently debating on getting either a Nexus One or an HTC Incredible. I know two entirely different Carriers(two GSM[tmobile n ATT] and CDMA). I've never had any other carrier besides ATT and despite what people may tell me I've never been financial screwed over by ATT or had extremely bad service or coverage(remember I'm in Hawaii not much to cover out here). Now on the other hand I have heard some horror stories about verizon overcharging or charging people for things they didn't want enabled ETC etc...I'm NO FANBOY of ATT either. I'm going off of what I've read by reviews and personal people I've talked to. For instance, a co-worker of mine, named Jason told me "Verizon had his first family plan bill at 400 something!!!! Which is insane because it's just him and his wife. He did not go over any of his limits and the worse thing was is when he called and asked about it they explained it and it MADE SENSE. Now, this guy is one of those that has no reason to lie, so I believe him. My sister has hated Verizon as well for their pricey charges and bad customer service with her BLACKBERRYSTORM lol. I know horrible phone.

Now the decision, Which one should I get. Note: I have been debating this for almost two months now. I've seen almost every review, unboxing, and vs videos on youtube on BOTH phones. I do know the technical differences between the two:

Incredible:

+ 8MP Cam w/Dual LED Flash
+ 7 Homescreen with HTC UI
+ 8GB Onboard Storage
+ Skype Mobile
+ HTC Widgets
+ HTC Keyboard
+ 199.99 2 yr contract

Nexus One:

+ Dual Microphone w/Noise Cancellation
+ Unlocked GSM Phone
+ Battery life
+ Sooner Guaranteed updates
+ Notification trackball
+ $530 No contract

Please, if there is anything I am missing please tell me. All OPINIONS in this decision are welcome. Thank you everyone for your input. The more technical the better.

Sincerely,

UNBIAS

Since Hawaii is a pretty isolated place and you won't be traveling all over the place, I would put the network quality at the bottom of your list for concern. So it really doesn't matter what network you choose (and the Incredible is only $70 more unlocked).

The Nexus One gets the quickest OS updates, but keep in mind that the N1 is pretty much a dead platform in the retail sector and it only came out a couple months ago. The people here on Phandroid will tell you different (since we're the biggest Android geeks out there), but outside of the OS updates, there's really no reason to get an N1. The camera on that phone isn't as good as the Droid and it's only being supported by Google.

For some reason, I think Google is going to release another phone next year developed by them but on one of the big four carriers. Cell phone manufacturing is a profitable business and I don't think a company like them is going to throw in the towel after the Nexus One. But again I'm just speculating...

As for the 7 screen thing and HTC widgets on the Incredible...it's cool but you barely use all those screens and I mainly only use the time/weather widget on the home screen.

And on the N1, the battery is 1400mah (compared to the Incredible's 1300mah). It's only going to be a hair better.

Id go for the incredible. (What other carrier options are there for you?)

When you travel, vzw has much better coverage than att, as does sprint, but how is the vzw service out there?

Also, keep in mind vzw has better pricing for handsets than att when you upgrade. All over, IMO, vzw is a much better company, and during my brief stint with them, I didn't have any problems with service.(currently with sprint, never any problems here in the mainlands)

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

In terms of just the phone I'd prefer the N1 over the Incredible as I would rather have stock android with very fast updates over Sense. However considering the network I went with the Incredible. I have a couple friends on Tmobile and their 3G coverage wasn't as good as verizons, at least in my area.

However its annoying that the Incredible has yet to be rooted. The Evo 4G isnt even out yet and its been rooted and already has Froyo ports. I have never had Sprint but from what I understand their coverage/speed is pretty good. You might consider the Evo 4G.

The reason evo got rooted already is because it has a ton of hype. Incredible... not so much. The problem with the vzw ad blitz now is people don't know there's more than one 'droid'

I'm now debating EVO 4G esp since Hawaii is covered in Wimax lol. Doesn't anyone think this phone is too big for the hands or is it just my perspective? Just not down with Sprint too much although they are cheaper; but an important factor to consider is I love skype!

All services here are gr8 on Oahu(the island I'm currently on) except I've heard the tmobile 3g cover blows. on Kauai where I go twice a year most places only Vzw catches which has made me swing towards their way more.

nexus one has multitouch and many other problems. i can show u videos that prove it. please dont waste the 530 bucks on the n1. go with the evo.
Really trying to stay away from Sprint though. I releaize the EVo 4g is considered to be the number 1 Android Based handset out but still no skype and previous experiences with my family and sprint were horrible. They put a stop to our phone service had us come in with an electricity bill state/government ID and birth certificate to verify our names and identities. They said it had to do with fraud which I've never seen amongst any of the carriers for anyone! It was a pain because sprint was an hour drive away from the house which in Hawaii; is far.

EVO4g, Droid Inc, and Nex1 are all powerful devices but in my opinion "SenseUI only makes sense if you like waiting forever for updates." Eliminate the middle-man! Try to stick as close to straight Google Android as possible. Seriously, decide whats more important, coverage, hardware, or updates, and go from there.
