Weather app on Home screen shows sun.....

until late into the evening!

I have it set up update hourly, and it will show it to be sunny, even until 8PM sometimes 9PM.

It's not exactly sunny at that time of day, I'd more expect to see the moon by that time of evening.

Is this just weird, or is it just using the "official" sunset time of 8 something and calling it sunny until then?

I'm a very new Hero user......I'm within my 30 days, and very tempted to take my Hero back and get a Evo, but, don't want to spend the extra $$ for the Evo, and don't need the extra monthly expense either!

Thanks!

the stock app has always been kind of quirky that way...very poor at updating every hour. I don't know if it still is on 2.1 since I don't bother with it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't get any better. The change from sun to moon might also have something to do with the sunset time in your area. The way that I would think it's designed is to switch from sun to moon at the sunset time wherever the phone is

Give Weatherbug a try. Very nice weather app, its free on the Market. It also has a small sized widget which takes up a lot less space on you home screen.

Dave

Thanks Dave,

Tried Weatherbug, but, it keeps my phone from sleeping. I tried playing with the settings, but, my phone was awake 100% with it so I uninstalled it for now. Don't know what I did wrong. Maybe if I can figure out what happened, I can reinstall it and fix the settings.

I know I turned Location OFF and had it set to update only hourly, but, my phone still was awake 100%, and the wxbug was the only thing that it could have been. Now that I have uninstalled it, my awake time is back to normal.

Any ideas on this? Thanks!

When installing Weatherbug from the Market, choose the set-up option which allows you to input a location for the app, and not the one which automatically chooses the location for you based on the location of the phone. You can input a zip code or a city name and that will be the location you get the weather for. Then you can choose the update interval from the settings.

Choose an update interval which reasonable for you so the phone doesn't waste a ton of power updating. And with the location set, the phone doesn't have to search all the time for the reporting location.

Hope this helps,
Dave

1. I still have trouble with the updates in the stock weather application on 2.1. The only thing I like about the stock application is the animations. I'm easily amused by such things.

2. I have Weatherbug (Elite) and have never had a problem with it keeping my device awake. I didn't try the free version, so I can't speak to that.

I have weatherbug elite, and it is excellent. The free version, which I had for a while before I bought elite always kept my phone awake. The gps location feature never ever stopped looking for location. It was a pita. I bought the paid version fully expecting it to do the same thing, but was sold when I realized it was a bug with only the free one.

It has a widget with a small radar screen right on your home screen. It is an awesome app.
