Help How do you sync GMail "My Contacts" and not "All Contacts"

The heading pretty much says it all. I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.)

Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know.

Anyone know how to leave out syncing All Contacts?

same prob here

i have created a group called "desire contacts" on gmail account and added 50 pps on there..

when i go to people app i see there is "all" written on top i select ->view and i only check phone witch is zero "0"
when i go to groups i can see the group named "desire contacts" and ofc all my conts in there but i can not find a way to just sync this specific group from my contacts list or to be the only one that i see when i choose the "people" app...

any app/solution for this..
ok not a major prob for phone but would be nice to let you sync the groups you wanted and not "all" gmail contacts

This is indeed the solution:

People > Menu > View > Untick 'Show auto Gmail contacts'

As we know Gmail adds all kinds of random email addresses to your Gmail All Contacts folder (based on you emailing them once at some point)... that is what "auto Gmail contacts" are. By unchecking this option, the People folder on your Android device will only sync with your My Contacts folder on Gmail -- and contacts only get into the My Contacts folder if you manually add them into there, or manually transfer them from the All Contacts (i.e. "auto Gmail contacts) folder.

Make sense?

Hopefully it'll work in real life like its supposed to in theory

yes it helps in the 'people view' but when searching for a contact under sms or email, all those ramdon addys appear, so not really a fix

Basically it syncs all or nothing. You can hide some contacts from some views. This is the only thing that can be done.

drives me crazy grrrrrrrrrr i just find myself deleting my contacts in gmail,

i hope this is addressed in the 2.2 or by gmail, whoever the fault lies with, i know the contacts list is right, but when searching for a contact to send an email i have 7 years of gmail contacts :(

'tis annoying. I cleared my gmail list all together. But still theres stuff in there that I dont want to see.

bumping this, sorry but still not fixesd in 2.2,in my case, I do not, at all want to synch any contacts from my GMAIL to my phone, so what I did was I removed all of them from the My Contacts group in GMAIL and transferred them to a custom made group, say Group X.

Now, when synching GMAIL contacts there is still no choice of synching only a specific group- it automatically synchs EVERY GMAIL contact you have.

NOte I used the word synch and not see- its one thing to hide it, but I totally do not want anything to synch- mainly because the space it takes up- i wanted to conserve...
