Root Boost Mobile LG Realm: LGLS620 Rooted Issues

can he access recovery? This will be a TWRP dealie..
Well.... He COULD boot to TWRP. He just informed me that he threw it away a while back. He would have been a good tester, too. He's taught me a lot about Android. Oh well... Sorry... Hope you get a couple testers. Btw... Did you get the base firmware from that Chinese site? I tried to create an account with Dolphin Translate so I could download it, but I gave up... Lol. Was afraid I'd have to load a Chinese keyboard... No thank you figuring that one out...

Oh wait... I know a guy with a bricked Realm, too. Only boots to bootloader. He has a Windows computer if you know any way he can get TWRP back. Think he said he tried to install philz recovery for a different phone and that was the end of it. Do you want me to get ahold of him? Can it be fixed now that there's a ROM for it? He's a noob, but he's pretty sharp. Follows instructions well.

I really wouldn't know how to handle that one, Lol. I'm horrible at dd commands but theoretically may be possible with a Fastboot. This will be my first LG anything as I'm usually dealing with ZTE devices. Maybe @SuperR can help as he's far more knowledgeable with LG ROM structures than I am but I've been trying to learn. @Father Guido got TWRP for this device kicking so he may know more about trying to dd stuff.

Well, I'll link him to this thread and see what he does with it...Good work, BTW.... This device really needed this.

Appreciate the inclusion here, but I don't know of any way to dd from fastboot. You need to be in adb w/su to use it. I've also been looking for the proper .kdz file for this device, and if it exists "at all" someone want $$ for it. Cripe, the WHOLE PHONE only cost me $20 (shipped no less)! Scumbags if you ask me...

Being you're truly soft bricked, the phone is fubar w/o the .kdz. Assuming you can get into DL mode, what do you have to lose by flashing say the L70 or VS450PP firmware? The L70 is a Sprint device and *might* work "out of the box" once flashed with the LGFlash tool directly. A possible alternative would be to try the VS450PP firmware, though it has a VZW radio. If you can get the phone to boot into either fw, you could then towelroot it, and dd to your hearts content. I have (and have provided bcrichster with) the /boot and /system .img's from the LS620 if you can get that far. Just ask and one of us can provide them.

Easier yet (should you succeed in getting it to boot into either FW), install TWRP and restore a Realm nandroid backup from someone else who has one containing the real LS620 TWRP backup image(s). As long as it doesn't touch the /EFS, the phone may well be revived/usable.

Just my thoughts...

Great help... I've asked for a system and boot twrp backup in a few places (including pg. 1 of this thread). I'm just learning this stuff myself, and don't actually have a Realm myself. Had 2 pals with broken realms, but the one that had twrp threw it away. The other, I gave the link to this thread to my other pal, but I doubt if he'll post... Looks daunting. Thanks for the info...tried some L70 ROMs.... No good...

Could be due to the locked bootloader, or the flash doesn't partition the device correctly (or at all?). I'm more of a Motorola guy and have only dabbled with several LG devices (Realm, Exceed 2, and G2). Did you try to flash the VS450PP .kdz? Being VERY similar devices (made "special" for prepaid use), this might be considered "official" firmware, thus allowing the flash. Just guessing at this point, but I intend to try a "custom" LS620 ROM on one of my VS450PP's if the dev can get it working. The Exceed 2 can be had for $15 at Best Buy (as of this reply), so I'm going to try and get a couple more to "play" with.

As a followup, it seems the VS450PP won't flash to this device. My LS620 is now a brick until someone makes the proper kdz available. Why does LG (or whoever) make this so hard to find is beyond me. Most every LG device can get the latest firmware with a simple web script using the MEID. Glad I only got $20 into this or I'd be angry. Should someone stumble upon the proper KDZ for this device, please post. Even @ only $20, it was STILL a nice WiFi device. Hate to just pitch it...
