Help FoxFi: "Your carrier has blocked WiFi mode in the latest phone update"

Looks like I'm going to be looking for a Nexus phone if FoxFi doesn't have a work around soon. I'll be kissing my Samsung goodbye, not like I'll miss it anyways though, Nexus phones look pretty nice nowadays. Verizon will never stop being cheap, seriously don't you guys make enough money?

Any other apps other than foxfi that any other unlimited users have used? I run everything off of that, don't have cable or anything else because the unlimited run through foxfi has taken care of all my own and my family's needs. Also how is this not in violation of the fcc agreement, are they jacking up our price cause they know they're just going to pay another big fine and not care?

I have loved using FoxFi to connect to create WiFi networks where I can't find one (I have unlimited data). However, I got this message today from the latest update a few days ago. How do I get around it? Or is FoxFi working on this? I paid good money for that FoxFi app.

EDIT: I guess FoxFi knows about this: http://pdanet.co/help/devices.php

What does Bluetooth mode mean? Can I use that?
You need to file a complaint with the fcc. The law is clear as non of the wireless providers can block third party application. According to fcc the public can use thier 4G data any way they would like. Verizon Wireless is breaking the law.

Just tried FoxFi and it's now working on my Samsung GS5 w/ Verizon unlimited data plan. Yay!!! By the way, I had filed a complaint w/ FCC about it on Nov 23. On Nov 25, Verizon called me to let me know they had received the complaint from the FCC and per the process, they would investigate and would copy me on their reply to the FCC. Not sure if this helped in resolving the FoxFi issue, but would certainly encourage all of us to report issue to FCC if it happens again

Since it does not look like FoxFi will ever work as a hotspot on a Motoroal phone running 4.4 or newer, does anyone know of a wifi hotspot device that can be connected to the USB end of a smartphone tether cable so that FoxFi thinks it is tethered.
Using FoxFi with personal PC and tethered cable works fine with PdaNet installed on PC, but my work PC is locked down so we can not install apps that are not company provided. I can use wifi on work PC.

Fox fi will still work if you root your phone and install exposed framework and motox tether
Thanks for that. After I updated to the latest firmware on my Note 4 (T-mobile version used on AT&T), Foxfi gave an error when I tried to run it. I don't want to use the built-in tether since there is no proxy. But Moto X Tether allowed it to work Thanks again.

OK heres the deal. I have contacted foxfi they say on their end everything shows it should be working fine. I have a S5 with full version foxfi. Has worked perfectly with the exception of verizon tricks to stop it. Worked awesome one day and then the next it turns on loads up but no one can find it on their devices as a usable network. I have checked to make sure it is not set on hidden I have rebooted my phone and then I even reset it to factory settings. Anyway is this verizon doing? Crazy thing is my husband has a note 3 has foxfi and and it's works perfectly. I can use USB mode but it's aggravating. Wondering is there's a setting that I need to fix.

My husbands phone is a note 4 running on 5.0.1. My phone runs on 5.0

It means that your carrier (Verizon started it, and I think Sprint is following suit) won't let you run a hotspot unless you pay for a tethering account. Regardless of what you (or FoxFi) do on your phone, the connection simply won't go through if you don't have a tethering account. Since that's done at the carrier's office, it doesn't matter what you or FoxFi do.

Would it appear as if the device (my iPad) connected to the hotspot (my smartphone) but couldn't actually access the Internet? That's what started happening to me a couple of weeks ago. Today I went to the pdanet+ site, downloaded and installed what was available there, and it's working again.
