3G connection on Google Calendar & Flixster

I seem to be experiencing something of an odd problem with my Hero's 3G connection.

Browsing the internet via 3G connections works just fine however it seems any other apps that utilise it refuse to work at all.

I've setup my Google calendar which updates just fine over wi-fi however if i create an event on the Hero with a 3G connection it refuses to sync with Google and I get a syncronisation error message in Settings>Data Synchronisation>Google.

Also Flixster refuses to work on 3G as does my footyfocus app.

Any ideas?
