3g problem need help!

I have a Samsung admire from metro pcs and my friend has the same phone but his has 3g. He had the phone for about 2 to 3 months. It started out with the 1x speed but it eventually got 3g but it took time. Is there a way to get the 3g to activate faster?

There's usually an option in the settings if you want to turn on the 3g. =)

It also depends on your cell coverage area. Metro PCS is owned or contracted with Sprint, IIRC. Sprint's coverage can be shaky in places. If you and he are standing shoulder to shoulder and he's getting it and you're not, do what ThatonedudexP suggested and check to make sure you're 3G is turned on. Else, call Metro PCS and ask them if you're supposed to be getting it.

It may be that your phone isn't talking to the towers correctly or you have a defective device..

There are no 3g setting. But somehow I got the 3g yesterday
