Help Android market does not recognize I am using a phone?

When I access the Android Market (Android Market), I get the same message that I get when accessing it via my PC i.e. "For a comprehensive, up-to-date list of the thousands of titles that are available, you will need to view Android Market on a handset."

How do I get the Market to "see" I am using a phone?

Hello, don't access market through the web browser, but the dedicated Market application that you should already have installed

Help! When I go through Market I get the message 'can't find a reliable data connection'. When I go through Internet, it says 'no android phone with this account'.
There's no mobile signal in the house - so I want to use WiFi - PLEASE HELP
this is a new phone (I've just finished my SATS) and I'm really excited, but no apps for 2 days, so I'm getting frustrated...

Neil your solution looked soo good but I was unable to find the app while searching the site with my computer. They may have removed it.
The access through the installed android app on my Galaxy 7500 is very restrictive.
If anyone has any other ideas I would appreciate hearing them I am trying to download the app for Navionics Lakes & Marines Us & Canada.
