What do you use most? Your laptop or phone? I think whichever you use most you should get. That's my opinion.
The phone has a strong argument for it. If you're like most of us, you'll integrate the phone into your every day work/ school/ entertainment life. So if you already have a computer that is working (which you certainly need for work/ school), the phone would be a good idea.

Personally I would go for the phone. I have 2 computers (windows 7 net book and a chrome book) and I rarely ever touch either of them. I have an ipad 2 that I use for Web browsing and the occasional media streaming, but IMO it is almost a complete necessity to have a smart phone.
