Anyone else having issues with gmailSupport

    The sync seems to be working fine as it is synced. However I'm not getting notifications anymore upon receiving an email and also when ever I open the gmail app it no longer refreshes itself I have to do it manually every time. Could this have something to do with moving the app to my SD card or maybe the fact that I deleted Google talk because I don't use it (that doesn't seem logical to me though, unless somehow the notifications are dependant upon something in Google talk)

    Have you tried moving it back to the phone off the sd card?

    yes I just did that and I'm even going to reinstall it...do you think you could send me a quick tester email after I reinstall, to see if it works?

    Allright well I got everything working again. Not sure what the exact problem was.
    My suggestion Lenny.....not sure what version of C-mod you're running, but I flashed to the most recent just a few hours ago....I had to go into sync and account settings after I installed gmail and unchecked the auto-sync off and on and then check the box for gmail sync and everything works now......I don't know maybe something was wrong with the automatic feature and just needed resetting.....Beats me

    I was having odd problems with gmail, too. I gave k-9 a try. It works perfectly, and I prefer it over gmail.

    you also can add other mail clients via the phone mail app in app drawer. but also if sync not working right just hit menu under accounts and sync and tap refresh.

    Even though I have sync it seems that there is a huge delay from time I get email in my inbox to the time I get it on my phone. Actually, ever since I went CM7 I haven't gotten any Email updates on my phone.

    Any advise? :p

    Check your Email/Gmail Account settings for inbox check frequency.If you have Exchange mail,incoming mail is automatic.

    Thanks, also, I have a couple of godaddy account emails, is their an outlook express app that I can put on the ascend so I can get business emails to my phone. Currently I am using my Ipod but it only works where I have my wifi.

    Also if you stop receiving emails go to Settings > Accounts & Sync >Select email > Check Gmail.

    I don't know about the GoDaddy thing.

    Incoming Settings:
    Username: youremail@ymail.com
    Password: (check the case for your password)
    IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 143
    Security type: TLS (Accept All Certificates)
    IMAP path prefix: (leave blank, it should read "Optional"

    *If you receive an error message, click “ok” on the error message, don’t change the settings and click “next” again. Do this until the settings are accepted by the server. It may take 3 or 4 times, if not more.

    Outgoing Settings:
    SMTP server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 25
    Security type: SSL (Accept All Certificates)
    Require sign-in: Checked
    Username: youremail@ymail.com)
    Password: (check the case for your password)

    *If you receive an error message, do not change the settings, make several attempts to submit the information until the server accepts.

    I got a 30-Day trial of an app from AMAZON APPSTORE, 'TOUCHDOWN',that works well w/EXCHANGE E-MAIL.I don't think you can get the free trial,but,there should be other similar apps that are in the ANDROID MARKET,perhaps for free.Gonna take a look now.........

    I recently hard reset my phone and when I try to set up gmail/market, I get an error message saying that it cant connect to the google servers. Ive done the hard reset through the settings and though holding the power+volume up+call at the same time and have tried setting up the account when it first asks me, through gmail, through market, and through adding a google account through settings.

    If theres nothing I can do through just resetting, is there and type of booting process that can completely re-install the phone back to factory settings?

    I just noticed in my Google Accounts settings there was a "Can't sync now, it will be working later" type message. It may be Google and not be your phone at all. Wait until later to see if it comes back on before you wipe out your phone.

    i have the ascend huawei does anyone know how to sign out of yahoo mail app and also the preloaded app called email i want to sign out of them with out deleting the rest of my personal info like my contacts and stuff any help would be awesome thanks

    Sorry - not 100% sure... have you tried posting in the sub-forum for the ascend? Others that own the device are usually the best to offer advice :)

    When trying to set up a google account on a co-worker's phone to access the android market, I also received the "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" message. I went through the settings to make sure the data connection was checked. I have tried about 5-6 times to log in much to no avail. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this?

    Have your co-worker call customer service and make sure they are signed up on the Android plan. Many people have had this problem where the store employees put them on the unlimited non smart phone plan by mistake.

    Funny thing is the internet on his phone works but I will have him call Metropcs to verify the data plan.

    It happened to me when I first got my phone, and I had internet, just no Google stuff would work. Thats the exact error message I got as well. I'm pretty sure that will be the problem. I'm on Cricket, though. Metro only has 1x, so if thats not the problem try having him set it up on wi-fi. 1x data might be too slow?
