Help Auto-correct...KNOCK IT OFF!

The EVO is driving me batty with the auto-correct. Most of the time, yes, it's beautiful... but for a small example, I told someone I had a new Evo... which despite the capitalization and all, changed itself to Eve after I hit space...

I had to delete that and retype, but then I had to hit the down arrow on the "word suggestion list" and type "add a word"... then I had to retype Evo to convince its spell checker that, yes, Evo is a word... then it'll accept Evo... except that going to "add a word" somehow deleted Evo out, so I had to type it a fourth time.

I love autocorrect for the most part, but I use a LOT of non-standard words. And I have NO idea how a proper nown showing ownership would work, I'm not adding "Shawn's" in as a word, but the phone was sure I didn't want to txt anyone for "shawn's number".

Please help! There must be some "don't autocorrect" this word button I'm missing. Is there at least an undo button for all the times I miss it but notice? If I type "****er" I don't want "sucker" edited in for me!

:)

I fianlly just had to turn that feature off. Totally drove me nuts. I would sometimes not realize it auto corrected the wrong thing until I was about to send the message and have to go correct 10 different things.

When the autocorrect options come up and you click the word you typed it adds it to the dictionary, so you should only ever have a particular word corrected once.

Also, if you miss the autocorrect and your word is substituted out if you hit backspace once it will revert to what you typed and you can save it to your dictionary.

Is there away to edit the predictive words. Mine has "learned" a few words I would like it to forget...

@Harleyless: Menu, Settings, Language and Keyboard, Touch Input, User Dictionary. Then choose the word you want to remove. It brings up a choice to edit the word. Just backspace every letter until the entire word is gone, and choose OK. It will tell you it deleted the word.
