Droid X will may be a brickyard for quite a few root folks. Best to let the brave & bold try first. Could be a lot of people singing the blues if not careful.

Moto and VZW do not want to pay support or return costs anymore for people who screw the devices up. Best option seems for VZW to offer a contract clause for rooters that would provide zero software or hardware support if you choose to root and then offer an unlocked version.

Then rooters and VZW would be happy

Yes that eFuse could just trigger an alert to VW that you've just violated your warranty and they are no longer responsible for the phone.
