Do NOT update Google Voice

If you are using GV with your Friends & Family account for free outgoing calls, don't upgrade to the version that's in the market now. It will assign an individual new number to each of your contacts, so you won't be able to do the free calling trick.

Edit: Added version 0.3.2 in case you already updated on accident.

Edit 2: looks like Sed has 0.3.4 in post #8 below.

This may be a dumb question but, what is the free calling trick you're referring to and how does it work?

Getting a replacement phone and was previously using version 3.4. Is it best to stick with it for the F&F issue or version 3.2? Much difference between the two?

Right now, I'm using version 0.4.2.8 with my Thunderbolt. It still dials the routing number, so you're still good. It seems to be working better than the newest version.

If you have a Friends & Family calling plan, you can set 10 numbers as your favorites so that calls to them won't count towards your minutes, no matter what cellphone provider they are using. If you set one of your Friends & Family numbers to the Google routing/bridging number (NOT your actual Google Voice number), then every time you dial out, Google Voice automatically dials that routing/bridging number before it connects you to the actual number. That way, you get unlimited outgoing calls to anybody. But that only works if you have F&F and add the bridging number to it, and use Google Voice for your outgoing calls.
