Help Double Contacts and Navigation

Whenever my phone syncs with my google contacts it ends up with 2 identical copies. Ideas on how to get rid of that?

When I try to use navigation and use a contact I get a message saying there are no contacts with addresses but there are (and they copies have them too)

Good question. I don't want to sync with google until someone comes up with an answer.

I sync with Google and do not get duplicate contacts. Just a question but could you possiably have two different gmail accounts setup for your phone to sync with?

No one google account... I turned off facebook syncing and that solved my navigation issue but the only way to get my contacts with single entries is to delete the enter list and sync again... are there other sync options?

Not sure what you have checked or not checked. If you go into settings-Accounts & Sync....what is showing?

I have "background data" "autosync" my account is my google account with the big G icon next to it

Well that sounds like all is well in the setup. Have you clicked on the big G and unchecked sync contacts to see if you get duplicates? I would imagine that you would not get any contact updates but if there is a second account that is not showing up it might reveal it. Also if you have not already done so you can go into your gmail account on your computer and click on contacts then select all with the check mark box at the top. Go over to the tab/drop down box labeled "More" and select "Find and Merge Duplicates" from the drop down list. This should get rid of any duplicates in your gmail contact account. Then re-sync with your Android and see if that resolves the issue. If this does not work and you are using something like facebook as well you might want to turn off its sync capability using your computer and see if that resolves the issue.

You could also try exporting your contacts online(not from phone!), and delete them all(again online).

Then make sure the phone isn't recognizing or syncing any contacts, try importing the saved contacts back into your online account and let it sync anew.

I've found two issues. 1. when I import from outlook into google I end up with "My Contacts" 66 entries and "Imported 12/18/11" 66 entries. If I delete one, the other goes.

Also if I go to create a contact I am asked for the same email twice one as google and one as coporate

Lemme guess. I'll guess the dupes you're seeing are due to you sync'ing with your works Microsoft Exchange server/Outlook Exchange server and GMail also. Hence 'corporate'?.

See page 57 and 58 of the Online ZTE Warp User Manual, "Setting Up a Microsoft Exchange Email". Or, stop sync'ing to one or the other and the dupes will cease I'd imagine.

the merge didnt help - there arent any duplicate contacts on gmail. there is also no exchange server, the contacts that are there were imported from an outlook .csv

Then you'll need to peek in the exported csv as that's most likely where they're at.

Booth Personal and Corporate accts in Outlook by chance?

I found it - with some help from you - the corporate sync was getting the same data as the google sync thus 2 copies. Once I sync'ed again and a second time all was good.

Go to your g-mail account on a computer and right under the gmail icon on the upper-left corner, click on Mail and a drop down will appear that says tasks and contacts. Click Contacts and all your contacts should pop up. Just above your contacts click on MORE and select find and merge duplicates. You're done.
