I noticed a smudge under the search button and could not figure out what it was. Well it seems like my slight screen separation at the bottom has moved around to the right side of the phone and is now actually starting to lift up under my buttons. :(

Since I'm still under my 30 days I'll just make Sprint send me a new one....ugh!

    Update 1:

So Sprint is sending me a new phone in about 2 weeks.

I can keep using the old phone until I receive the new one.

My new contact date starts today and my new 30 day return starts when I receive the new phone.

They charged me for the new phone and will do a credit to my cc on the old phone once I return it.

Bummer is I still have to do the rebate dance.

I think they we're going to send me a refurb unit until I said I wanted a new one.

    Update 2:
Ummmm my new EVO showed up today. That was fast, they rep had told me 2 weeks.

    Edit:
I thought I'd post this here (this is posted later in the thread):

Well my first EVO was defective with the screen sepration issue.
2nd EVO had a bad touch screen.
    3rd was perfect...until I bricked it.
And you know about the 4th.

Now before flaming me remember I've had an EVO since day one, so a lot of my issues were new at the time.
Also every one of my issues had been posted on AF, so feel to look them up.

4 Evo's? Have they all had serious problems, or minor annoyances that you keep sending back to get a perfect one? I have a day one release evo with a dead single dead pixel, but since it's perfect in every other way, i don't see a need to take it back.

    Jeez.

    It's called consumer rights.

If the guy's got a unit with a growing defect, then barring x-ray vision and a crystal ball, it's not that difficult to believe that maybe another unit is in order before the warranty lapses and things get worse.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but lots of people give your feedback and those looking for a little advice or support might deserve better than derision.

Supposedly, they had a batch or two with some bad adhesives used for assembly. The guy's supposed to cowtow to your way of thinking until it falls completely apart? Yeah - I don't think that's required unless one of you jokers is buying the next one if that happens once the warranty's lapsed.

    Jeez. Seriously, jeez.

Robo - best luck. It might seem fictional to you - but my 6/6 Evo has zero issues of any kind - so keep the faith.

The world's full of people that tear others down to prop themselves higher, and that has nothing to do with phones.

Other than the fact that elementary-school elitism is certainly not limited to the iPhone.

There is a huge difference between the phone falling apart and the phone having a slight light leak, or bubble, or dead pixel, or whatever. It's that kind of attitude that make manufacturers have to charge more for everything they make, such as cars, appliances, etc. "This has a scratch, I want it PERFECT!" Seriously?

Now if there is legit reasons behind 4 evo's in a row, such as the entire screen casing was falling off one, the next one didn't charge at all, the next ones wifi didn't work, and the last one wouldn't boot at all, then yeah i could see it. But considering there are currently shortages and people having bigger problem then a little bubble that can't get replacement ones while others are getting 3 and 4 replacements, I think i'd wait a little while and put up with a small issue that doesn't effect performance until the stock is there for everyone.

It's the elitist attitude that says "make this perfect." I prefer a device that does everything I want, even if it has a blemish but performs great. Do you return your car for a slight squeak that you hear only when the radio is off if it otherwise is great? It's my experience that going after every little issue is the quickest way to nickel and dime you. One little imperfection that isn't effecting usage, just leave it be until everyone else is good to go. It's the right thing to do. If it makes it not function correctly, then there is a good reason to swap it.

So you should be happy that he got some more defective EVOs out of the way for you.

On top of that if he was able to get 4 EVOs and you still can't get one, that doesn't say much about you.

Same here. Unfortunately, thanks to the forums I have been expecting a problem. None yet. I hope this thing lasts another 10 trouble free months.

While I agree that it shouldn't be replaced for a single dead pixel screen separation is a very bad issue and should be returned.

A dead pixel is like a small scratch but screen separation is like the windshield coming unglued our the motor having major problems. Its a critical part of the phone considering its a big touch screen! You expect him to just get over it? Get real

@EarlyMon - So a slight defect that gets worse is covered under the manufacturers warranty or by the 30 day Sprint guarantee? The phone has a 1 year hardware warranty, maybe the OP should just have them fix the one he has? Just a thought...

The next thing he's going to be complaining about on Evo 7 is that the screen isn't as good as his first one and he wants the first one back now that the screen's been replaced and the spot that he dropped it isn't separated any more.

@OP - Good luck with the swaps, you'll never find a perfect one though and all you're doing is making it impossible for anyone else to find them... Just sayin...

If a phone is bad in the first 30 day's why would anyone keep it and worry about getting it fixed later on. Why would you worry about someone repairing a new device when you can just swap it out for another one.

Man people say the dumbest things. This will be the new Best Buy sales pitch going along with your wonderful theory.

Sales Associate: Here is your new Evo right out of the box. That will be $199 please. Now if you take it over to the repair line they will fix your brand new broken device for you.

    Customer: um, what? Excuse me?

Sales Associate: Dont' worry, this is how we do it now because zcarman said it was.

Customer: Oh, since he said so....Thanks!

To OP: My second EVO is pretty damn near perfect as my first one had some bad light leakage by the home button, so don't give up until you are happy. In the meantime, F everyone else until they offer to use their money to buy you one.

I feel you, I'm on my 4th, waiting for a 5th. The first one had a bad screen. The second one (im currently using) the battery cover will not stay shut, and major screen separation (i can put my fingernail under it and lift the screen). Sprint sent me another new on in the mail, and when I turned it on, the screen had a brownish tint to it. Not just a little bit, literally anything white looked really brown. The 4th one they sent me I just got the other day, and there is three large pieces of dust under the screen from the factory. Two of them are right in the middle of the screen, and are very noticable, even from a few feet away.

I do not feel I'm doing anything wrong. I paid 600 bucks for this thing, and it comes with a 30 day warranty. If HTC would build these things correctly, and do good quality checks, this wouldnt happen. I cant believe they let a phone that looks brown out the door, and one with dust under the screen. These factories are supposed to be dust free, cleaner than a hospital.

Sorry if this bothers anyone, but I paid good money for this phone, and will probably keep it for at least 3 years (how long I usually keep my phones). I dont want to have to live with dust under the screen for 3 years, or having to duct tape the screen down to keep it from coming up.

No flaming necessary, seems to me those are all valid reasons, even including bricking it because vendor software shouldn't be able to brick their product.

I don't see what is funny about screen separation, or dead pixels.
