Two small little articles by the same guy showing off the capabilities of the Droid X camera and HD camera in day and night.

    Night
Motorola Droid X camera performs well at night

Just from what we have so far from little clips from different websites, there's no competition between Droid X and EVO. I don't think it's as good as the iPhone 4, but the quality is still very high and currently the best ever on an Android device. Rejoice for progress!

From what I've seen on the net, the DX definitely shoots better videos than the evo.

Still photos, I think they are fairly comparable. I've taken my evo back due to quality issues but it did take some beautiful pics; I dare say that the colors on the pictures I took with the evo seem more vibrant than the examples of photos I've seen on the net taken with the DX.

One thing I am a little worried about is the shutter lag. One of the articles i read mentioned it and when I was watching a video of someone taking a pic with it, it seemed like there was indeed a slight but noticeable lag.

Would having a separate button for the shutter make the lag worse? The evo's shutter button was on the screen and it had almost no shutter lag...in fact, coming from the G1, I was amazed at how fast the shutter was. I am curious to know whether the DX will have an on screen shutter button in addition the external button.

I doubt it will be a deal killer for me but I have a kid and tend to use the phone camera quite a bit. Hate having to beg my kid to stand still so I can snap the pic.

We need to wait for a full review on the camera. So far, people have said that it was good to the best they've seen on an Android phone. There have been no in depth reviews on it yet, unfortunately. Hopefully by tomorrow we will be seeing results!

I do know the X has a 1/1000 mechanical shutter. Are mechanical shutters generally slower?

Videos? The EVO can't even compare in that department for sure. The sound quality alone is a HUGE difference between EVO vs. Droid X and iPhone 4. The EVO is also stuck at 20FPS where as the Droid X runs at 24FPS.

The 3 different mics also will help to play a role in the quality of the sound. The noise cancellation mic itself will help drown out wind noise... which is a noticeable problem with the EVO.

The EVO is 20FPS... I don't know where you're getting the 24FPS number. Also, you're talking about the 30FPS cap on framerate that was broken.

I've read both 20fps and 24fps for 720p on the evo. I don't know enough about the technology behind it to know what difference this makes, but just visually from the videos I've seen online, the DX does definitely look better to my eyes.

Whether it's 20 or 24 on the EVO, the Droid X videos have been noticeably smoother and the audio definitely better.

Exactly. Whoever says otherwise is just in denial. It's the same thing as those people saying "I see no difference between the EVO and iPhone 4"... COME ON!

Edit: I look at the EVO forums and they all talk about 20FPS for the EVO. If it was 24FPS, why even mention 20FPS? I can give several examples if you need it from even posts made today.

Also, I don't even understand why you're talking about a framerate cap that HTC purposely made on their EVO. I did not mention anything about that at all...

I mean... it has nothing to do with video recording quality.

I have no clue but I would love to see a comparison between the evo and dx on which one snaps the pic quicker from the time the shutter button is pressed.

I do believe that the EVO will be faster than the Droid X in terms of shutter speed. My Incredible snaps pictures so quickly... I just wish so many of them weren't so soft.

My brother just got the dinc for everyone in his family about a month ago. Hope he won't get jealous of the dx when I piggyback on his family plan! :D

I keep flip flopping can't make up my mind I'm scared im going to miss the amoled colors or sense or the optical pad or the phone will be too big and uncomfortable in my hand. I have decent sized hands so idk should that matter?

AWESOME FIND man, we were talking about this yesterday. Its facking awesome to see more sites share the same opinion.

I love my sony touchscreen, but this moto looks quite capable. 1 less device to carry in my pocket is ALWAYS good.

LOL...is all I can say. I have seen both phones with good videos, both look the same. They both take pictures that look the same. Trying to say one takes better over the other and you don't even own the phones, proves nothing. And I see topics of people saying it's 24 fps.

One thing that will always hamper the EVO in comparison tests... sound quality. It is awful compared to the X and iPhone 4 in that category. No contest.

Quote from PC World comparison test: "Heading up the rear in our video tests was the Evo 4G, which couldn't even top the video capture on the iPhone 3GS. It finished dead last in video quality on both ends of the lighting spectrum, thanks to footage that was choppy, murky, and overblown in bright light, and surprisingly bright but super-grainy in low light."]Heading up the rear in our video tests was the Evo 4G, which couldn't even top the video capture on the iPhone 3GS. Eeeek!
