Facebook app changed

Just FYI for those that may not know - you need to check if it's allowing your phone to sleep to assess the battery drain. Right after I installed, I had rebooted last night. I was at around 50% battery. This morning - I was around 30%. Not a terrible drop in battery performance, so I didn't find out that it wasn't letting the battery sleep until I checked Battery History (*#*#4636#*#* - haven't got around to getting Spare Parts yet I guess) to find out that Running was at 100%.

Another way to check without rebooting is to check Up time - under this same screen. Record the up time - then let the phone sleep for 10 min. Go back and re-check up time to see if it's close to the number you recorded, or if it's 10 min greater

uptime increments as time goes by regardless of whether or not an app is keeping the phone awake.

and it automatically threw all my facebook people into my contact list... Im kinda pissed right now about it. Im Uninstalling it now and will just be bookmorking the actual website until another update is available and its fixed.
 When I started it, it asked me if I wanted it to import all my Facebook contacts. Did you not get that?

yep, but once it was done, it wasnt able to be undone. tried rebooting and everything..

I haven't sync'd and it was defaulted to no sync to me so I might be of limited help.

But, earlier, when I clicked the logout button it said it would remove facebook data from your phone. Perhaps that would remove the contacts it added? Then, when I logged back in, that option came up after I entered my login.

I just posted in the support section about this app... Ill post here aswell... this update is a possible battery drainer. when I updated to it this morning my "running time" jumped up from 30% to now over 70% in a couple hours time with "facebook" showing as the backround running app... meaning this app may not be letting your phone sleep and potentially draining the battery
Everyone who updates, please keep an eye on your battery life after updating.

I saw this happen as well and uninstalled, it's pretty sad how the FB devs just can't get it right...

I might be the only one, but I much preferred the prior version of the Facebook Android app. The new one automatically created a group called "nativeFacebook" and put all my Facebook contacts in there, despite that they already exist in my Facebook account I associated with my phone when I activated it. As a result, I had two identical lists of Facebook users and those contacts were associated with both groups. I even turned off auto synching but I still could not figure out a way around this redundant group being created. Am I missing something that would allow one group of users to exist without this happening? As a result, I uninstalled the app and will just access it via the site until this issue is fixed.

I went into the my account and removed facebook from the List, even if you choose the not to sync it wont remove them, which I found very annoying. If you remove Facebook from My Account in the applications it will get rid of all those contacts from facebook.

One thing I finally discovered about the mess Facebook had created with my contacts and just simply didn't realize is this:

Go to your contacts. At the top be sure to choose Google only (if your contacts match your Gmail) and all those from FB will be gone. Then you can just sync with current contacts under the FB option you now have and the pictures of your FB buddies you have as contacts on the phone will be there.

So easy, yet I missed that all along by having ALL CONTACTS chosen.

Have you used any kind of battery manager app to see your awake or running time? like batteryleft or spare parts?
Spare Parts says running 100% (unplugged ~9 hours ago), but my battery has not drained significantly today. I think this is something wrong with Spare Parts or the data that it is reporting, not the phone or the program. Could be the same thing with the "GPS issue" showing that it is running 100%. I guess I'll have to do an experiment tomorrow and see what happens.

Actually, yes you can. I just did it. Already had done it on the stock launcher, just forgot till I read this thread about doing it to LP.

Open app drawer, click on contacts, touch the second "contacts" from the top (touch the actual word, not the green + symbol on the right side), then choose what group to display.:D

Yeah that works, i guess im being to picky. I want it to only show my contacts under the Phone Icon in the Dock.
