Help FAILED (remote: unknown command)

Hello androidforums.
I'm having a bit of a problem rooting my LG Aristo 2.
Whenever I try to execute the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
It comes up with this.
Code:
target reported max download size of 262144000 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16954 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.539s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.543s
Can someone please help me with this?

Type fastboot flash recovery then drag the recovery.img file into cmd and press enter. If that doesn't work then something else is the issue.
Well, the phone also does run android oreo, and I want to downgrade it.
Edit: when I execute "fastboot flash recovery C:\adb\recovery.img"
I get this
Code:
target reported max download size of 262144000 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16954 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.630s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: unknown command)
finished. total time: 0.645s
