Just a FYI to others out there, I was having the phone call muting issues and drop calls very frequently for some time. I'm not saying this is a fix (maybe Verizon has just updated their network down here in the Southeast or I missed the thread of it being fixed), but ever since I rooted and upgraded to Jelly Bean (a little more than a week ago) I have yet to have a dropped call or mic muting issue.
I'm just letting others that have have had this problem know what helped me. I'll update this if I end up getting a mic mute.
