Help gallery badly draining battery

I have an AT&T Samsung GS3. Recently, my battery has been draining in about 4 hours with only using it for a few texts. When I look at the usage, the gallery is taking up most of the juice. I always exit whatever gallery I'm in when I access it, which isn't very often. I've also noticed that my phone is getting hot. I cannot charge it through a computer, because the drain is faster than it will charge if the phone is left on. Anyone have any idea why the gallery would suddenly start using juice like that? I have force stopped the gallery, but it comes back on by itself.

Go to Settings - Accounts and then your Google account. Go to the Sync section and make sure Picasa is unchecked.
