Gingerbread keyboard on N1

Anyone download the apk for the Gingerbread keyboard to their N1 yet? I found the links for 2.2 and 2.1 on droid life. Dont need to be rooted either. If I cant get full 2.3 I might as well try to get bits of it right?

FWIW, I like this new keyboard a lot better than the OEM keyboard. For some reason the buttons accept where I hit them more accurately. I definitely type faster with the new keyboard.

I think the accuracy comes from the keys being smaller and having more space between keys. You have to hit the key right on but it provides less miss types. The iPhone keyboard is laid out the same way. I can't wait to use it over the next few days to see how I like it (currently using swiftkey and love the new hi res keyboard). Works great, thanks hyper!

Been using the GB keyboard for the last few days, I really like it in landscape mode. Really wish I could use Swype in portrait and the new GB keyboard in landscape without rooting my phone.

Overall I really like the new keyboard, big upgrade.

First few messages and emails, it seems nice. Still a bit of lag in browser though.

You can, but it'll take you 1 long press and 2 clicks each time to switch.

Ya I know how to do that. There is a hack to make different keyboards show up for landscape and portrait. Guess I need to root my phone and play with it.

But since swype in landscape is quite useless anyway I'll give this a spin

The GB KB was ok, but it's not multitouch. The only other multitouch keyboard I've found was Smart Keyboard Pro. The others, like Better Keyboard, claim to have multitouch but dont, at least not on the N1.
