Help Grainy & Blurred photos on DHD

Hi everyone,
I am using an unbranded DHD with 2.3.5. At the Xmas party last night, I used the camera for the first time and found that the pictures are very grainy and that if someone was moving the picture was very blurred. I was sober so the results could not be due to camera shake caused by alcohol.
I had not changed anything except the resolution which is at 3M.
Any solutions?

I've found turning off auto focus and using touch to focus instead gives much better results than letting the phone decide what's the best area to focus on.

Also, the camera is capable of 8M, so that's probably the best setting.
