Help Handset Microphone

On my Nexus the onboard microphone is not registering any sound at all. I have to use a bluetooth headset to be able to talk. The phone is completly stock, any ideas on how to bring it back to life?

So basically you can't use the phone to talk then...>_>;

1)Did it come like this when you got the phone
- might be a defective phone
- you can try a factory reset

2)was this something recent?
- might be an app you downloaded that's affecting the mic.
- do you have one that you recently downloaded that would have access to the
mic?
- if you don't know...you can slowly do the 'uninstall and reinstall' and test to see
if the mic work after each uninstall.
- if you can't pinpoint an app, do a factory reset
- and if issue still persist, call HTC

I have had the phone for about a month now, and up until two days ago it was working perfectly. I have been going through recent apps that have no connection to the mic, just to see what would happen. Nothing yet, guess I'll just email HTC and try a reset as well.

If you call HTC, they'll make you do a factory reset so it's better to do it before and if the mic is still not working, you can tell them that you did the factory reset and it didn't work so you can move to how to solve the issue with HTC. Most likely you'll have to send the phone in for diagnosis and repair.

Called HTC, they asked if I reset and took the battery out. Told them yes, and their reaction was pretty much 'woah...umm...' So I am all set to get a replacement device and ship mine back. Thanks for the help guys!
