Has the OTA 2.1 been rooted yet?

    2.1 OTA really slowed down my gf's eris. She wants me to look into rooting it like my Sprint Hero is and installing a custom ROM to speed it up. I know the 2.1 OTA update initially closed the root down, but is it still like that?

    If you did the official OTA upgrade from 1.5, then your phone can be rooted. If you upgraded to a leaked copy of 2.1, then you cannot root.

    Really that is sweet can anyone conform this answer about OTA 2.1 being able to root.

    Yes, the OTA update did not update the bootloader, so it can still be rooted in the same method as 1.5.

    I rooted a phone that was upgraded to 2.1 over the air last week. You use the same procedure as if it was still running 1.5.
