    Hi,

I've had a HTC Desire before A8181 and have had no problems at all rooting it and running other ROMs on it, anyway I was able to sell it for a good price and was able to buy a brand new one for a very cheap price but it was a Telstra Next G A8183 HTC Desire.

Despite me trying everything under the sun to root it, i have been very unsuccessful. Is there anyone here who could help?!

When I get the phone into FASTBOOT mode I get the following data (hope that helps):

    BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
    HBOOT-0.75.0000
    MICROP-031d
    TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
    RADIO-4.05.00.11

I'm getting various errors and have tried rooting on windows and Tiny Core Linux, tried the guides on the following sites:

How To: Root the HTC Desire | TheUnlockr
How To Root Your HTC Desire & Add Apps2SD Nimbu
14/Jun r6 riskfreeroot - HTC Desire rooting guide - now with HBOOT 0.80 and OS to 1.21 support - Android @ MoDaCo

I always tend to get Step 1 to complete although I do get a FAILED message but and at step 2 I get "error: device not found"

I thought it could be that windows can not find the drivers so I decided to do it on Linux but that didn't work either.

If anyone can help that will be much appreciated.

    Kindly,

    Rolphez:confused:

I have just rooted my Next G Desire, so it can be done. I used the Nimbu method above with the Gold Card. Took a couple of stops and starts into recovery but worked eventually.

It doesn't affect the Next G side of things. Still works as it should.
