Root HELP htc evo 4g problem

My HTC Evo 4g is on android version 2.3.5 but im trying to get it back to android version 2.2 by using the RUU what must i do my bootloader is already unlocked and i have root

You can't just downgrade your phone with a ruu.......a ruu can only upgrade the phone, not the other way around.

Are you rooted? If so you can just flash a 3.70 rom which is froyo or 2.2

If you don't mind can I ask the reason for dropping down to 2.2.

I want to root it and use unrevoke because its easier to root and i need s off and I flashed a PC36IMG.zip through the bootloader on my old evo 4g and it took me back to the stock rom on 2.2

What is your hboot now?

Like I said a ruu or PC36IMG will not work by going backwards......they only work when they can update the phone.

No worries......if you want to get s-off, you will have to downgrade your hboot and then you can use unrevoked to get s-off.

So you initially had the right idea
