how do i save my contacts.

so i want to reset my hero back to factory settings but i dont want to loose my contacts. everyone always says put all my contacts in a google account or something. but idk how to do that.

Are your contacts currently phone contacts or Google contacts?

If they're Google contacts then they're automatically backed up to your Google account.

If they are phone accounts in order to turn them in to Google accounts you could try what I did successfully.

1) There's an app on the market called 'Exportcontacts' get this and use it to export all your contacts to a csv file. Transfer this file to your PC.

2) Delete all the contacts on your phone.

3) log on to your Google mail account on your PC and select import contacts. It will ask you for a csv file, use the one you created.

4) After a minute or two your contacts should automatically sync to your phone, and you'll have them back as Google contacts.

I tried the above and it worked a treat.

Without using Google is to use the vCardio app free from the market.
vcardio | All | By date, Androlib, Android Applications and Games

Export your contacts to SD card then after the upgrade import them again
