Help How to send group texts

My mum recently bought a Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade) for her work phone, and this weekend I showed her the wonders of syncing it to her Gmail account.
However I couldn't work out how send a text to everyone in on of her gmail contact groups, as this is something she would use a lot.
If anyone could tell me how to do this we would be very grateful

I'm not sure what the deal is with the stock app on the phone, but you can certainly send group texts with one of the 3rd Party aps like GoSMS.

Open the app, hit the compose icon, then groups and it will allow you to send to all contacts in any of your groups.

Thanks for the advice on goSMS, looks good for my use but my mother isn't interested in 3rd party apps, I was hoping for a build-in method.

In Android 2.2+ you can just start typing another name after you selected the first one. Not sure about 2.1
