I just can't seem to figure out wallpaper size

Hi guys. I just got my Incredible yesterday. I read a ton here before if arrived and continue to read a lot. What I seem to have wrong is wallpaper size. I am attaching a photo of my daughter I want to use as my home screen wallpaper. I sized it to 479 pixels x 800 pixels (Just couldn't get it to 480). I was under the impression this size would allow me to have it as my home screen wallpaper. When I try to set the image as my wallpaper, though, I am only able to use a small portion. I can drag the green box that appears as much as it goes but still only get about 1/3 of the image.

I hope what I'm saying makes sense. I would appreciate any clarification.

While the screen resolution is indeed 480x800, the correct wallpaper size is 960x800 to allow for scrolling across multiple screens. If you need help sizing it, you can PM me the original pic, and I'd be happy to do it for you.

To tell the truth i've always been puzzled by this topic. How should i find out the necessary resolution? Usually i look at resolution of other pictures that are all right and make the same
