I'm a little confused

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S II 4G model SPH-D710 From Virgin Mobile YET Whenever it's automatically detected they come up with Sprints Samsung Galaxy Epic touch . So is there a difference? Or is my phone not being detected correctly. I'd like to know as I'm considering rooting also app compatibility. Thanks

In the U.S. Virgin Mobile is owned by Sprint.

Also, it's the same device.
