I just rooted a couple hours ago. After I did I realized that nothing would download from the market, new apps or updates. So I did a factory reset. Now when I try to open the market it won't even bring up the terms and conditions so obviosely I have no access to the market. What do I do?

And BTW, when I did a factory reset do I need to root again?

I'm pretty sure the issue is with the market and not with root. It's been acting wonky the better part of the day for me, both before and after I rooted my X.

It says its downloading...but no data comes across. I tried Wifi as well. Nothing...

Does anyone think this is due to the root or freezing something that I am not supposed to with Titanium Backup?

The data connection is fine cuz I can use the internet and stuff. Just can't get android market to download things.

    Please help!!! Thank you!!!

Yikes... anyone have any commentary on this? Anyone rooted and accessing the market as normal?

Motorola did indicate that root could break the phone.

As I said previously the market has been acting up all day. I've had issues off and on downloading even before I rooted. As of right now, I'm having no problems with the market. I wouldn't panic.

I have had no issues with the market. I rooted about 3 hours ago and downloaded a few apps like norm. I do believe if you factory reset your phone you lose root...Don't quote me.

This is incorrect. Fabulous or whatever that one guide's name is has explained this multiple times in different threads so I won't get into it. (Sorry for quoting you lol)

No Market problems, or any difference since I rooted.

Ok well I think I deleted something I wasn't supposed to by accident. I did a factory reset and BAM, my phone didn't work. I could activate it but that was it. No gmail syncing, no market, no browser. The only thing I deleted before it ****ed up was talk.

Anyway, I bought it at best buy so I went in there to see if I could exchange it due to a "software defect". They didn't have any in stock, but found a best buy that did for me. I went and exchanged my phone, even my Dallas Cowboys skin got on to my new one ok. Thank god I bought it at best buy and they didn't ask questions.

Anyway, got my new phone, rooting again tonight, and going to be a lot more careful this time and use titanium backup instead of just deleting!!!

So by locking down the bootloader, Motorola may actually end up replacing more bricks than they would if we could recover to a backup image after making our little "mistakes."

Probably. It is going to cost them in the long run. All I did was show the woman at best buy that my phone wasn't working. She tried it, and gave me the new one.

Now on my new one, I rooted. Deleted a few apps:
    Hot spot
    Amazon mp3
    Skype
    City ID
    Visual Voice mail

    And I froze:
    Talk
    Email
    Corporate contacts
    Weather 2.1
    Universal inbox
    Text messaging 2.1
    Social everything
    Quick contact
    News 2.1
    Mesages 2.1
    Messaging 2.1
    Home screen tips
    Help center
    Emergency Alert
    Email 2.1
    DLNA
    Media share
    Car dock
    Backup assistant

WOW there was a lot of bloatware!!! I still get my emails through gmail and my messages through handcent just fine.

Marketplace downloads were not working for me after freezing some applications/services. Based on your post I remembered that I froze Google Talk Service and Google Talk Storage with Titanium Backup.

Well, I turned them back on and my marketplace is working normally again.

Anyone else want to confirm whether or not this fixes their issues?

Edit: Wow, a bunch of emails just popped up on my phone as well as notifications about application updates.

I've been rooted since yesterday, no problems at all with the Market although it was a little slow earlier. My phone actually runs alot better since I rooted and froze alot of apps.

Did the same thing today, froze talk = no market downloads; thawed talk = market is fine. Nothing else was changed so, yes, talk is essential for the market to work
