Help need help with my galaxy note

My galaxy note stopped taking a charge from its port. I was wondering if others have had this issue? Also, I was told that I can remove my battery a buy an external charger that will charge the battery without the use of the charge port of the phone. Does anyone know about these units and do you recommend a certain brand or type for my phone.

Have you tried a different cable and outlet? And have you check if there's not a clump of dust in the charging port that's blocking the charger?
