Although I have not tried it yet. I do see in settings - wireless controls, the last option on my phone says Mobile network sharing, it is grayed out right now and says attach usb cable first.
1. Make sure your device’s data connection is turned on. See “Getting Started With Data Services” to learn
how to turn on the device’s data connection.
2. Connect the device to the computer using the provided USB cable.
3. Press Menu > Settings > Wireless controls.
4. Select the Mobile network sharing check box.
Doesn't work for me. As soon as I turn that option on, the phone starts telling me about the wrong vision username/password. I have to turn the option off to get rid of the error. Only way that worked was with the PDANet app but it's not free. Either way, bluetooth tethering, which I had with my old Samsung A900 doesn't exist for Hero, which sucks.
ooh someone will. the PRO2 is like this but a simple registry edit to make ICS visible on the PRO2 was all it took. im sure the capability to tether thru the cellular connection is already on the phone,, it just needs to be un hidden...
It is not hidden on the phone. Sprint has a second NAI that will check whether or not you have a PAM plan. If you don't you will not be able to tether until someone figures out how to root/disable the second NAI.
