I'm on tmobile with nokia nuron and $10 unlimited data plan.

I bought a mytouch3g slide popped in my sim and it says i have to upgrade data plan.

I changed the apn from what i read to do, but it looks like it still doesnt work.

I heard tmobile blacklists imei so there is no way around this with their tmo branded phones.

However, after doing some more research, i have read a few users state that the Nexus One and the Samsung Behold 2 (tmobile branded) will work with the $10 or even cheaper tzones unlimited data.

    Is this really confirmed?

I still use my $4.99 tzones plan on my nexus one and i have no problem using data. I was quite surprised that it worked. I thought i would have to upgrade my data plan.

I wonder if there are any other tmobile android phones that allow the use of the $10 or cheaper data plans.

Right off the bat I know the Mytouch 3g and Mytouch 3g slide do not work.

Any pics floating around of that?

FWIW, if the AT&T deal goes thru, T-Mo will be losing 3G on 1700 band, and 3G would only be available on AT&T's bands. The T-Mo Defy (not a flagship I know) has, at the least, AT&T's 850 3G band, and works on the $15/mo. MediaNet plan (I currently have plans with both carriers).

It's been verified by a few people over at XDA forums.

    Incredible S U.S. T-mobile 3G? - xda-developers

You are right. If the merger goes through AT&T will drop the T Mobile 3G/4G bands but that isn't going to happen right away. T Mobile going forward appears to be releasing their new phones to work on AT&T and T Mobile 3G/4G bands. Hopefully a new out of market phone will pop up that works on both networks and the cheap internet plans.

    Roger that.

Higher end Nokias are being shipped as pentaband HSPA+...they're always good for the cheaper data plans. ;) I'm thinking I may just pull the trigger on an Incredible S, to drop back to the T-Mo web2Go, then move my Defy to the MediaNet on AT&T.

SO... this $10 plan, is it something you have to have had before a certain date, aka grandfathered in??

Or is it something that I, a no-contract Nexus one owner can just call and get into??
    Thanks
    Tony

It's lucky that I found this thread because I used to have the Behold II, I got it as a gift and was using data strictly on wifi thanks to the APNDroid app to avoid data charges, then I got a cheap phone in December with the cheap data plan (the $10 one) when I extended my contract (some T-Mobile Samsung slider with Bada OS), I popped my SIM card and I continued to use the Behold II this time with a proper data plan. When my Behold II gave it's last breath, I switched back to the cheap phone and decided to look for a way to get another Android phone. I bought a Mytouch 3G Slide on ebay, popped my SIM card and I'm unable to use the mobile data connection. MMS works though. So if what I read here is true, than I'd have to subscribe to the $30-$35 Android data plan? That sucks.

T-mobile 200MB plan is $10/mo and Unlimited (2GB-so not really unlimited) is $20/mo.

Tip: Contact customer service to see if your place of employment is on their corporate discount list. If your place of employment is on the list, you'll save money every month and hopefully the money you save will offset the cost of your data plan.

It doesn't hurt to check...I'm receiving a 15% discount on my monthly bills.

They are all UNLIMITED plans, even the $10/200mb plan. They just throttle you back to 2g speeds once you reach the paltry 200mbs. For those very often near a wiFI connection (or almost always in 2g coverage anyway), this $10 is a great alternative to $30 unlimited that won't even come close to being fully utilized.

    Thank you Aci78

You explained it much better than I did.

I completely agree with you, the $10 data plan is great for those on a budget and/or use WiFi often.
