Help phone keeps delecting my messages!

I had only about 70 messages in all&it made me force closeit.its just the regular message that comes with the droid! I tried to fix it by changing the settings to 200 message limit&it kept doing it at random times. Sometimes I would get up to 150 messages other times like 12.I'm not to sure what's going on but its deleting a lot of important information!

Change the setting from delete to don't delete.
