Root Re: Rooting my Moto G 4g

Hi just wondering is it worth rooting my device as I have never rooted before, I was just wondering the benefits of it,

As in a previous post I downloaded xbmc as in was told could watch latest movies etc but I can't work it out at all Lol

The two main advantages of rooting a phone are being able to put a custom ROM on the phone and the ability to install apps that require root. So if XBMC does not require root to use then you don't have to root the phone - acording to this post it does not require root.

Two downsides - there is a small chance you can brick the phone, and if it's newer you will void the warranty.

Thanks Kate. Yeah rooting was just curious if was really needed for anything special xbmc I did install bit can't figure it out at all its very confusing.

Even searching Google loads I still can't figure out out so I kinda gave up lol.

Is all as I have this cheaper device after selling my m8, and trying to make the big decision of probably the note 4 or iPhone 6 this month I'm just trying to make the right choice.

If you're getting an iphone 6 or Note, rooting what you have now will possibly devalue it in terms of reselling. Just sayin, untouched phones are worth a bit more here, maybe there too.

If you want something to tinker with rooting can be pretty fun. On the Moto G LTE it's a simple process too.
