Help Reset battery stats

For the past week or so, whenever my phone gets to around 25% battery it shuts off & wont turn on - like the battery is dead.

I can turn the phone on again once its plugged in & can even use the phone when (its unplugged and) below 25% after being charged for a short while.

Is there a way I can reset my battery stats to stop this from happening? Or is there something else more foul at play here?

Good question. Sadly, I don't have a good answer.

If you were feeling really adventurous, you could back up then try a factory reset ..

Otherwise, might be worth considering sending the phone for repair, just in case there is a more serious issue with the battery - it should still be under warranty (just, if you're in the US).

You need root to reset the battery stats and the whole battery stats myth was debunked by Google a while back: https://plus.google.com/105051985738280261832/posts/FV3LVtdVxPT

I don't think a factory reset would do any harm, as long as you back stuff up beforehand, but I'm guessing it's something hardware related.

The only thing I can think that may have affected it is using the charger from my Nexus 10. I'd looked about before though & people were saying its ok to use it, but not the other way around (phone charger to charge my tablet).

Yeah, that should be ok. Mrs Presidente commandeers pretty much any charger she can fid (normally my N4 charger) so I'm regularly forced to use my Nexus 7 charger and cable on my N4. I've not noticed any difference between that and the N4 charger TBH.

When it's charging, does it get hot at all?

No heating problems, just normal temperatures.

It's just happened again, so I'm going to charge it a bit then factory reset
