Root ROM Guide - anywhere on the net that offers this

Tried a google search but found nothing.

Basically I'm looking to root my HD because....

Sense is conflicting with Launcher Pro (in other words I want rid of sense and not have to be asked "complete action using.." again

I want rid of the shite that HTC pre load their phones with

Relating to the first bit, no longer do I go to personalise to change my ringtones and other sounds. I go into settings and it doesn't save. This is my primary reason for wanting to root

Now I've heard of CyanogenMOD and a stock HTC Rom. But there are also others and I want to make an informed choice before going to the trouble of rooting

So in short, is there a guide on what Rom provides what?
