Root Root Error

    The exact method can vary, but in general the steps are:

    1. Obtain root
    2. Flash custom recovery
    3. Flash ROM

    You can accomplish step 2 using ADB (if you have the SDK installed). See the second example under the Install section, about halfway down the first post here.

    All rooting is the same. Although given that ROM manager didn't work, I'm guessing maybe your first attempt didn't work for some reason.

    Titanium Backup is an extremely useful app for backups, but it will also do a little diagnostic on your phone and tell you if you're properly rooted every time you open it.

    Well I gave one more attempt using the Flashing ClockWorkMod Recovery and it worked! I've read in past posts that the server may go down often?

    I'm now trying to root another phone - same make and model and running into the same roadblock with ClockWorkMod. I'll just keep trying and hopefully it will eventually work as before.
