    DON'T extract the file(s) from the tar that you download, the file that you download IS what you need. Load Into the PDA setting in ODIN Flasher!

    I also wanted to Note.... This was a Pain in the Ass!!!
    Based On 1.6 Kernel.

    - 1 Step Root!
    - Full Access To the System by Typing ADB Shell
    Asroot (tr3) root hack No longer Works in the New Kernel.

    -Default.prop Edit's
    ro.secure=0
    ro.allow.mock.location=1
    ro.debuggable=1
    persist.service.adb.enable=1

    -Init.rc Edit's
    I changed the System Re-mount to rw
    You can now adb push Anything to /system or /data

    This mean's YOU have Root via SH After Flashing, no more using Cat to Push something & No more running the Re-mount Command!.. :)

    Revision 3 ( 1.6 Kernel )
    - Child set to 0 ( No Settings previously )
    - On boot / On init also now Repairs SH / SU
    - Changed Memory Allocations for Home App's to 1536 / was at 4098

    Shell Enabled Root-Full ADB Access-Root Permission's for App's Set By User
    Working ADB at Boot-up ( via Logcat & DDMS working )
    USB Debugging Enabled to Help with Root Problems regarding Programs ( Like Titanium Backup )
    Root Enabled SH ( Just Like the 1.5 Kernel's )
    Here's the Odin Ready Kernel Download. This is the Kernel Only. Works with 1.6 Rom's!
    Download > kernel.tar

    Revision 2 ( 1.6 Kernel )
    Shell Enabled Root-Full ADB Access-Root Permission's for App's Set By User
    Full Permission's Fix for SH & SU
    Working ADB at Boot-up ( via Logcat & DDMS working )
    USB Debugging Enabled to Help with Root Problems regarding Programs ( Like Titanium Backup )
    Root Enabled ( Just Like the 1.5 Kernel's )
    Here's the Odin Ready Kernel Download. This is the Kernel Only. Works with 1.6 Rom's!
    Download > kernel.tar

    Revision 1 ( 1.6 Kernel )
    Shell Enabled Root-Full ADB Access-Root Permission's for App's Set By User
    (Must Push SU to Bin on Factory Rom & Chmod 04755 /system/bin/sh & Chmod 04755 /system/bin/sh &)
    Here's the Odin Ready Kernel Download. This is the Kernel Only. Works with 1.6 Rom's!
    Download > kernel.tar

    I'll Likely get another Revision Out addressing the Permission Repair, regarding sh & su.
    This was the First working test Regarding Rooted Kernel..
    This will Solve the Issue with Losing Root.

    No it will not work as NetFilter has not been added. Nonetheless, for your tethering needs PdaNet works great.

    BH_Man thanks for the release of yet another wonderful kernel! Working nicely!

    So you recommend doing this in addition to the R7 of 1.6 that we already have? Can someone explain what this does? I was under the impression I already had an updated kernel.

    So if I flash this kernel right now and make the changes that are noted in the OP I will have root without problems, but but doing the flash to the kernel, will I have to reinstall everything? or everything goes as normal?

    uname -a reads the following:

    Linux localhost 2.6.29 #1 PREEMPT Wed Mar 17 01:20:00 KST 2010 armv6l GNU/Linux

    I assume this means the flash went correctly given the above? I didn't take note of the kernel revision prior to flashing the new kernel.tar

    Hats off for another slick mod!

    @megabiteg When I flashed the new kerenel I didn't lose anything aside from a few seconds off my boot time.
