Help Samsung announces Galaxy S Android smartphone

to be fair to samsung. while i may not buy another one, samsungs mistakes are removing OTA updates and allowing the carriers dictate what updates should be applied to the handheld.
this means different carriers on different versions and all have to be tested, accredited and modified with carrier specific CSC's that samsung have said they would do.
for phones that are not smartphones carrier branding is great but for the smartphone industry where updates are a must its a pain in the ass.

between samsung and HTC, samsung have actually provided more updates (although some are leaked) and theres nothing stopping another carrier updating the base code as we can see its been made just not accepted by other carriers.
christ DE is still on ii5. donut exists but is not official as the russia have requested it but not accepted a build yet so someone is leaking the potential builds

Samsung have updated theyre device to 1.6 which HTC didnt do with the hero and rumour has it we still may have 2.0/2.1
Samsung have also been more forthcoming with sourcecode and on each occasion it has been quicker than HTC.

the problem with samsung is that they are so damn ignorant and secretive and that leaves a bad taste on the consumers pallet which makes them look worse than they actually are and for that reason im likely to go with HTC regardless of how powerful the next samsung beast will be.

I second you on this point. Only Apple can do the secrecy thing flawlessly ;)
