Several news agencies are reporting that Samsung is pointing the finger at battery manufacturers as the culprit in the Note 7 debacle, and Samsung doesn't plan to release the S8 at the traditional platform it's used in the past.
So long as they don't trip over themselves, and there are zero issues with the S8, likely they'll make out okay and ten years from now the experience will be a footnote in their history.
But if there are problems with the S8, particularly if they are related to overheating, smoke and fire, in ten years I don't think there will be a Samsung mobile phone division.
