Help Setting Touch Screen Sensitivity - Can You?

I can't find anything on this function. I.E. For those with a heavier touch, unwanted applications are opened when scrolling or navigating around the screen. For example, my contact list. Ill be running down the list to let's say the " R's " and when I get near the person I want to contact and slide the list up or down to center their view, it seems like the slightest touch anywhere besiides right on their name opens up the wrong one.
