Shortcuts Disappear from homescreen

Occasionally my shortcuts vanish from the homescreen. It seems this may occur after a reboot but not sure. Note well that these are shortcuts *only* and not apps- the apps remain in place. Lately I have been bookmarking sites I visit (I use Chrome) as a precaution but it is still annoying to see the shortcuts vanish.
Ideas much appreciated. Thank you!

Sounds like your stock launcher is wonky.
You can always install a different launcher from the play store, such as Nova launcher, which is highly customizable, from icon size, to icon packs, etc..
I've used Nova for years and never a problem
