Help This is strange.

I just traded my old iPhone 4 for a Galaxy S3 Mini, (Very nice trade ) but after looking at the About Device page in settings, I see that it's running 4.4.2 KitKat. I thought the Galaxy S3 Mini (SM-G730W8 for reference) didn't get KitKat stock. This is definitely not a modded ROM or anything, so am I missing something? Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I'm guessing if it is a Galaxy S3 Mini that it's been refurbished. If it was, they may have upgraded the version when they wiped and reflashed...

It isn't refurbished. I got it from my friend who got it from MTS (my carrier), and I don't think he ever updated it. And it all looks stock, TouchWiz and everything. Is there anyway for me to find out if it is a custom ROM?

The sm-g730 did receive a fota update to 4.4.2. At least it did on AT&T.

What's your full model number? I.e. mine is sm-g730a.

I don't see why the sm-g730w8 wouldn't have gotten the same ota update the sm-g730a did.

I just can't find any evidence that it did

The name of the update file was 2400258.cfg. Does that help at all?
