.Trashes on android. Small question.

I read that this is created when you have your android hooked up to a mac and you have deleted files. .Trashes apparently stores those files. However, what I read was ambiguous. I'm guessing that .Trashes only stores what was deleted WHILE the android was hooked up to the mac, not everything that has ever been deleted on the mac. Am I right? This seems kind of obvious, but I want to be sure.
