Help Trouble signing into Google

I can't sign into google

I have a google account set up using a @yahoo.com email but when I enter it into the phone, it says my @yahoo.com account doesn't use gmail.com

Then when I just try to put my user name in with the @yahoo.com it still won't work.

Do i have to have an @gmail.com account in order to sign in, or am I doing something wrong?

I cannot get my contacts to sync because I can't get into my account.

Yes, you basically need a Gmail account. Techinically you can make calls and surf without it but you cannot us the Market Place and other things without it.

Besides, Gmail KILLS Yahoo! mail. Just forward your mail to Gmail while you notify friends of your change.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I have gmail for my school account and I guess I just need to get used to using it.

Is there a way to transfer my contacts and calendar from my yahoo google account to a gmail account when I set it up?

I believe Google has an auto import for email/calendars if you have all that stuff in your yahoo account. See here:
